On the Same Page

The sparkling new edition of On the Same Page was released on 1 April, 2022. This novel, a romantic comedy about historical romance novelist Miles Franklin, and grumpy CEO publishing executive Lars Kristensen, is one that is very close to my heart, and I’m delighted it is now out in the world. An illustrated cover with a horse? Be still my beating heart 💕.

The cover quote from Amy Andrews sums things up nicely. This book is quirky, and so is the heroine, Miles, as she battles the big end of town in defending her privacy, and ultimately the genre of romance itself 💕

For readers of Mhairi McFarlane, Beth O'Leary, Lindsay Kelk and Sally Thorne comes this utterly charming and delightfully funny love story where opposites attract - or do they?

By day Miles Franklin, named after the famous author, is a successful lawyer. By night, in secret, she writes historical romance novels under the pen name Emma Browning. When 'Emma's' novels win one of Australia's biggest literary awards, Miles's perfectly ordered life begins to unthread at the bindings. Especially when Lars Kristensen, CEO of the publishing company contracted to publish the prize-winning books, insists on meeting the author.

Besides mutual antipathy and sexual attraction, socially anxious Miles and supremely confident Lars have nothing in common. Nothing. But the more time they spend together, the more blurred the lines between fact and fiction and love and hate become.

Miles is determined to both protect her privacy and to keep writing-even if it means mastering pole dancing, choreographing a love scene in the back of a horse-drawn carriage, and confronting the prejudices of her parents and publishers.

Like the heroines in her books, Miles has the grit to stand her ground. But Lars has the smouldering looks, arrogance and pride of all her romantic heroes rolled into one. And he is good at reading between the lines. Who is going win this battle of wills? Can Miles and Lars ever be on the same page?

'Endearingly quirky and utterly charming. Funny and sweet and wonderful.' -Amy Andrews, USA Today bestselling author

Early reviews:

‘Booklover: Goodreads

This was a brilliantly written, warm and fun read! The ending especially had me in my feels. I loved the little snippets of Miles’ work, as well as the overall subject matter of the importance and integrity of romance novels.

Allyson: Goodreads

Read this if you love:
the enemies to lovers trope
secret authors that will stop at nothing to keep their anonymity
A protagonist that is clumsy, quirky with guts and an open vulnerability about mental health
A love interest that is mysterious and tender
Love and laughing!

I finished this book a mere matter of minutes ago and could not write a review fast enough. On The Same Page follows Miles, an attorney and a literary legacy who has been secretly writing romance novels. Her world turns upside down when her PA enters her for a prestigious writing award.

Miles has to risk being outed as the writer Emma Browning (her pseudonym), while continuing to write and grow. Oh, and of course there’s a grumpy and absurdly hot ceo of the publishing house.

I absolutely devoured this book. There was a great cast of supporting characters along with the leads. My favorite aspect is that the book followed the same formula as Emma’s own books. If you love enemies to lovers romance, run don’t walk to get this book!
